WEDDING | COWDRAY HOUSE

K&H

There is an undeniable sense of drama and romance to Cowdray House — a historic English estate renowned for its atmospheric ruins, expansive parkland and timeless character. In winter, the estate takes on a particular magic, offering an exceptional setting for couples seeking a refined, editorial and deeply emotive wedding celebration.

In December 2025, we had the privilege of planning, designing and producing a full wedding weekend at Cowdray House. What unfolded was a meticulously curated winter wedding experience, where every moment flowed seamlessly and every detail was considered in context of the whole.

Our approach as a luxury UK wedding planner blends design-led thinking with intuitive planning and close collaboration. While we lead the creative vision, we work alongside a carefully selected network of florists, stylists, lighting designers and artisans who share our commitment to quality and understand the elevated aesthetic our clients expect.

A ROMANTIC WINTER WEDDING WEEKEND AT COWDRAY HOUSE

From the outset, the couple envisioned a romantic and editorial winter wedding, defined by a rich colour palette of soft blush tones layered with deep burgundy and winter reds. Abundant florals were paired with modern seasonal details — including winter fruits and textural elements — creating depth, contrast and visual interest throughout the entire weekend.

The celebrations began with an intimate welcome dinner, allowing guests to gather and settle into the estate. Candlelight, layered florals and thoughtful styling set a warm and inviting tone, offering a beautiful introduction to the weekend ahead.

The wedding ceremony took place at St Mary’s Church, a beautiful historic church nestled in the heart of the West Sussex countryside. The setting offered an intimate and traditional contrast to the scale of Cowdray House, grounding the celebration in a sense of timeless English romance.

Soft winter florals in blush, burgundy and deep red tones framed the ceremony, introducing the colour palette that would flow throughout the weekend. As guests gathered beneath the church’s ancient stonework, the atmosphere felt quietly emotive, elegant and deeply personal.

Following the ceremony, guests were transported back to Cowdray House for the drinks reception, allowing the celebration to unfold seamlessly across locations. This carefully planned transition ensured momentum and atmosphere were maintained throughout the day.

The bride and groom travelled separately in a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a moment of understated glamour that felt entirely fitting for the occasion. The arrival at Cowdray House was unhurried and cinematic, setting the tone for the celebrations that followed.

Guests were welcomed into the estate with champagne and canapés, gathering against the backdrop of the ruins as winter light softened across the grounds — a beautiful prelude to the evening ahead.

As guests moved through the estate, each transition was carefully choreographed — an essential element when planning a wedding across multiple locations. From church to estate, and from daylight to candlelight, every moment flowed naturally and with ease.

The reception space at Cowdray House was transformed into a dramatic yet intimate winter setting. Cascading florals, rich linens and abundant candlelight softened the grandeur of the surroundings, creating an atmosphere that felt romantic, editorial and immersive.

As evening fell, guests were invited into Buck Hall, where the setting had been transformed into a truly magical winter dining space. At its centre stood an impressive Christmas tree installation, softly lit and elegantly dressed, bringing warmth and seasonal drama to the historic room.

Long dining tables ran the length of the hall, dressed with abundant candlelight and striking candelabra that cast a soft, golden glow across the space. The combination of flickering flames, rich winter florals and the grandeur of Buck Hall created an atmosphere that felt both intimate and celebratory — festive without feeling overt, elegant without formality.

Dinner unfolded slowly and joyfully, with guests lingering over beautifully curated food and wine, surrounded by candlelight and conversation. The setting encouraged connection and warmth, perfectly in keeping with the spirit of a winter celebration.

Following dinner, the celebration flowed naturally into an after-dinner cocktail hour in the Library, offering a change of pace and setting. Guests gathered for cocktails in the richly layered surroundings, enjoying a moment to relax before the evening festivities continued.

The following morning, guests were welcomed back for a relaxed farewell brunch — the perfect final chapter to a beautifully layered wedding weekend. It offered a gentle send-off, allowing guests to reconnect, reflect on the celebrations and depart at ease.

"Our daughter Kerry married Harry in early Dec 25. Bella headed the Isabella Rose team as Wedding Planners for the Couple.
The team were exceptional through both the planning and execution phases.

From what we saw, Bella provided constant guidance, advice and support throughout the process, in a highly professional and very user friendly manner. Her ability to deal in equal measure with both the intricate detail as well as helping the Couple navigate through options / sensitivities / one or two pressure points in manner that secured positive outcomes was an impressive skill.

Bella was able to bring significant experience gained from previous commissions, but also, and incredibly generously, shared the ‘lessons learnt’ from her own personal experiences having married in the Summer of 2025 too.

Her empathy with all involved - but especially with Kerry & Harry - and being able to read situations and offer options / solutions, was one of the fundamental success factors.

As Parents we had two of the very best days of our lives over the weekend of the wedding. It is without doubt that the Isabella Rose team, and Bella especially, were absolutely instrumental in making it so.

Thank you so much Bella!
